Cody Walker is widely recognised for his role as a mentor and his ability to positively influence those around him. His commitment and actions have garnered him significant respect, especially among Indigenous youth. As a Yuin and Bundjalung man, Cody’s involvement in Indigenous-focused initiatives highlights his dedication to the betterment of his community.

His leadership extends beyond his heritage, having served as the captain of the Indigenous All Stars. Cody is actively engaged in several key programs including the Nanga Mai Marri (Dream Big) Program, the Aboriginal Employment Program, the Deadly Youth Mentoring Program, and the Rabbitohs’ Wellbeing Program. Furthermore, Cody supports South Sydney’s South Cares and various NRL community initiatives, demonstrating his broader commitment to social welfare.

Walker’s influence extends beyond the field. Through his quiet humility and genuine enthusiasm, he exemplifies the traits that are admired by many, including participants of the First People’s Project.

Cody’s role at the South Sydney Rabbitohs Club is multifaceted, contributing significantly both as a player and in community engagement. His achievements include winning the George Piggins Medal twice, representing New South Wales in the State of Origin, leading the Indigenous All Stars, and being named the NRL People’s Choice winner. These accolades reflect not only his sportsmanship but also his character and resilience.
